From Civitavecchia the drive towards Rome for an amazing day to experience and explore the major attractions of the Eternal City. Once reaching the historical city center, in Piazza Venezia, you will admire the monument dedicated to first king of Italy such as Vittorio Emanuele II of the Savoy family. (this monument is also called” The Wedding Cake” for its particular shape and bright white color ) and an historical building being once the headquarter of Mussolini during World War Two. We will then proceed towards to the most ancient part of the city passing by The Roman and Imperial Forums plusThe Capitoline Hill till to reach the Circus Maximus,an ancient stadium where life defying chariot races were held for the pleasure of more than 15,000 Roman Citizens and Royalty of the time. and the famous Coliseum, the largest and most imposing amphitheatre ever built where more than 50.000 could assist to the cruel battles between gladiators and wild beast daily held in its arena.

We will then reach the Trevi Fountain having the possibility to throw coins into the water ( according to a current interpretation, throwing 3 coins, 2 will lead to a new romance and three will ensure either a marriage or a divorce), The Spanish Steps, the finest shopping street in Rome,and the beautifulChurch of Trinità Dei Monti, Piazza Navona and its Dolce Vita, where not to be missed to enjoy the best chocolate ice-cream, and then the area of thePantheon, an imposing structure dated 27 BC where the great painter Raphael is buried, with the amazing façade of the Church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva.

Time for lunch at a family run restaurant where to taste the local gastronomy.

After lunch, you will have the possibility to explore the richest storehouse of the world: The Vatican Museum. walking through the Tapestery and Geographical Map Galleries, the Candelabra gallery and the amazing Raphael Rooms, you will reach the 15th. Century Sistine Chapel where it is preserved a huge and invaluable collection of masterpieces in particular the Michelangelo ceiling painting : “The Creation of the World”.

Passing through the Bernini’s colonnade you will access to St.Peter’s Basilica where to see the gilded Papal Canopy suspended over the altar where the Pope celebrates mass and one of the most famous sculptures around the world: The “Pieta’ of Michelangelo”

At the conclusion, driving through the impressive Arch of Constantine we will then lead back to the ship in Civitavecchia.
